The Bible says that the King of Mitsrayim had ordered the midwives to kill all the male children born among the Hebrews. Moses’s mother hid him for three months after giving birth. Then, unable to hide him, she put infant Moses in a basket and put the basket in the river….Moses’s mother hid him for three months after giving birth. Then, unable to hide him, she put infant Moses in a basket and put the basket in the river.
The basket was seen by the King’s daughter. She took the basket out of the water and took pity on the child. She then had Moses brought up as her son.Kamsa had similarly imprisoned Krishna’s parents Vasudeva and Devaki with the intent to kill their new born child. However, all the guards slept at the time of Krishna’s birth. Vasudeva then put infant Krishna in a basket and carried him across the Yamuna. He put Krishna on the bed of Yashoda, the Queen of Gokul. Krishna was brought up as son of Nanda and Yashoda.
Both Moses and Krishna were born in distress, they were carried in a basket on a river to safety, and were brought up by foster parents. These similarities, and others to follow in subsequent posts, suggest they were the same person.
