Abstract: The understanding of Allah as Universal Consciousness is consistent with the Quran. In the beginning there was only a uniform “matter-consciousness.” This “matter-consciousness” that was simultaneously each of these. This uniform “matter-consciousness” wanted to evolve…. and separated into matter and consciousness. The driver of this evolution was consciousness. The consciousness then prodded to evolve up the evolutionary ladder from matter to life to man. We give the name “Allah” to this Consciousness.
How is a collective consciousness formed?
Allah is the Collective Consciousness of all living beings and non-living things. Every electron that revolves around a proton does so because of the prodding by the Universal Consciousness within it (Picture 1). The Universal Consciousness is present in every particle in this universe. Just as the cloud has only air and water in all its constituent parts yet it appears in different colours and shapes, similarly, the Allah or Universal Consciousness appears in the form of earth and living beings (Picture 2).
Then the consciousness in every particle of the matter evolved. It made effort to grow just as child learns to crawl or walk (Picture 3). Thus matter evolved into ground, vegetation, sea creatures and lastly humankind. The repeated statement in the Quran that “Allah said” may be understood as the Allah-Consciousness-in-matter saying to matter; just as in the morning a painter may say “Let there be a painting” and he gets on with making it.
What does beget nor begotten mean?
The Holy Quran says:
He is Allah: there is no Allah other than Him… He is Allah: the Creator, the Originator, the Shaper (Quran, 59:22-24).
Say, ‘He begot no one nor was He begotten’ (112:1-4).The Allah-Universal Consciousness became conscious of itself and prodded its constituent parts to evolve from undifferentiated matter into land, water, plants, animals and man (Picture 4). It is like the atoms joining to make a molecule (Picture 5). In this way Allah or Universal Consciousness created the material world.
The Universal Consciousness evolved itself. It did not beget anything that was separate from Him. It always was, hence it was not begotten as well.
There is no Allah but He, the living the Everlasting. Slumber seize him not, neither sleep (Quran 2:255).
Everything that exists has part of the consciousness of Allah-Universal Consciousness. Thus, there no Allah but He. The Universal Consciousness is everlasting. It is like the electron going round the proton—it never slumbers or sleeps.
How is Allah described in the Quran?
We humbly submit that the concept of Allah as Universal Consciousness is consistent with the Holy Quran.
