First, Jesus spread the message of brotherhood. He lived among and cared for the poor. He said: “Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God” (Matthew 19:24)…. He looked down upon the rich. In sharp contrast, the Hindu society is hugely unequal. The lower castes are looked down. The main reason why the British succeeded in conquering India was that the poor people of India supported the British against their own rulers. I was once undertaking some studies in Dungarpur in Rajasthan. The tribals told me that they would run and take shelter in the areas controlled by the British in the Ajmer Residency to escape from the tortures perpetrated by the domestic rulers. Therefore, we must learn from Jesus Christ that to love the poor is to love God.
Second, Jesus honoured Abraham and Moses. About Abraham he said: “If you are Abraham’s children, you would be doing the deeds of Abraham” (John 8:40). About Moses He said: “If you believed Moses, you would believe me… But if you do not believe what Moses, how will you believe my words?” (John 5:46-47). Now, we have shown that Abraham was the same person as Rama and Moses was the same person as Krishna. Therefore, Jesus honoured Rama and Krishna.
