Historicity of the Garden of Eden

My study suggests that the origin of the Biblical and Quranic religions lies in the Indus Valley and that Moses led the Exodus from there, rather than from Egypt. There is no archaeological evidence of the Hebrews in Egypt around 1446 BCE, the time traditionally associated with the Exodus. In contrast, the Indus Valley Civilization collapsed around 1500 BCE, which led to its people spreading in all directions. Some of these people went to West Asia and they became the Jews.
Moses carried the memories of Adam, Noah, and Abraham from the Indus Valley and that these figures originally lived there.
The Mausala Parva of the Mahabharata mentions that Krishna left for an unknown country after the Yadavas killed each other. This unknown country was Israel, implying that Krishna is Moses and that this individual led the Exodus from the Indus Valley to Israel.

Allah is within you

Posted on March 1, 2024August 26, 2024 By Bharat Jhunjhunwala No Comments on Allah is within you

What does the Quran say about universes?

In this post we shall consider the concept of Allah as given in the Quran. The traditional understanding is that Allah stand somewhere outside this universe and governs it’s from outside. We would like to present an alternative understanding that Allah is within this universe and the universal consciousness of this universe itself is Allah.

The universe was created from dust?

The universe was created from dust?

What is a black hole filled with?

The Quran says “We created you from dust, then from a sperm-drop, then from a clinging clot, and then from a lump of flesh, formed and unformed – that We may show you…” Indeed, it is true that the universe was created from dust but the question is whether the dust self-created itself into the universe or some external power created universe out of the dust? Both interpretations are consistent with the Quran. A corollary of this thought is that when the universe was created from the Black Hole Allah was without or within?

Allah was within or outside the Black Hole?

Allah was within or outside the Black Hole?

The traditional understanding is that Allah was outside the Black Hole and He created an explosion in the Black Hole and this whole  universe came into being. An alternative interpretation is that Allah was within the Black Hole and its self-exploded itself and created the universe. Both interpretations are consistent with the Quran.

What is the Sun’s real name?

Yogi Prana Izza says “we know nothing about how Allah Himself may have come to be created.” In this same manner we can say that we don’t know where Allah is? Or what is His form? The Quran confirms that every matter in this universe has consciousness. It is said “Do you not see that to Allah prostrates whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth and the sun, the moon, the stars, the mountains and the trees” (Al- Hajj 22:18, Al-Isrā’ 17:44, Al-Hadīd 57:1). Again it says “we offered the Trust to the heavens and the earth and the mountains, and they declined to bear it but man [undertook to] bear it” (Al-Ahzāb 33:72).

Ibn Arabī says only living can emerge out of a living Allah

Ibn Arabī says only living can emerge out of a living Allah.

What is Ibn Arabi famous for?

This Ayat clearly state that mountains, earth, moon and other things have some consciousness because only if they have consciousness, they can decide whether to prostrate or not. This view is supported by Ibn Arabī. He says “The name [al-Hayy] meaning Alive is an essential name of God—Therefore, nothing can emerge from Him but living things.

Hence, all of the cosmos is alive, So, what you consider to be inanimate is in fact alive.” Similarly, Seyyed Hossein Nasr, who has translated the Quran says “A stone, because it exists, is a manifestation of Existence and, therefore, has knowledge, will, power, and intelligence like men or angels. However, since at the level of a stone the manifestation of Existence is very weak, these attributes are hidden and not perceptible.” Islamic scholars agree that this entire universe is conscious.

Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth

Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth.

What is the meaning of 24 35 in the Quran?

Al Nur 24:35 says “Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The example of His light is like a niche within which is a lamp, the lamp is within glass, the glass as if it were a pearly [white] star lit from [the oil of] a blessed olive tree, neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil would almost glow even if untouched by fire. Light upon light. Allah guides to His light whom He wills.”

We will take every phrase of this Ayat and then show that it is consistent with both the interpretations of Allah being outside this universe or inside this universe.

The first phrase is “Allah is light” Al-Jalālayan understand light as the physical light of the sun and moon. However, the physical light can be from within the sun or from without the sun. Therefore, Al-Jalālayan says that the light is physical is consistent both with Allah being inside or outside the universe.

The next phrase is “of the heavens and the earth” this phrase is also consistent with both the possibility. Allah being the light of the heaven and earth can be the light from within the sun or outside the sun. So Allah stand outside and lightens all the universe or permeates the entire universe and lights it.

The next phrase is “the example light.” In this phrase the word Allah is not mentioned. Now we can place the word Allah at different places in this phrase. One possibility is that we say “the example of His light,” in which case He and the light become two different things. Alternatively we can say “His example is the light.” In this case the He and the light are the same entity. Therefore, depending upon where we insert the word Allah this phrase became consistent with both the interpretations.

A niche within which is a lamp.

Which is the biggest black hole in the universe?

The next phrase is “a niche within [which is] a lamp.” One way of understanding this is that there is may be a mountain and there is a crevice in which there is a lamp. An alternative interpretation is that the niche is the empty space within which is the explosion of the Black Hole took place.

The next phrase is “The lamp is within the glass”. Now the glass can be the physical glass of a lamp or the glass can indicate transparency which means the emptiness of the entire space.

The next Phrase is “The glass as if it were a pearly star.” This can be a description of a lamp in the darkness or it can be description of the explosion in the Black Hole in the empty space.

The “lit from blessed olive” in Al-Noor 24:35 could refer to the explosion of the Black Hole in space.

The “lit from blessed olive” in Al-Noor 24:35 could refer to the explosion of the Black Hole in space.

Who invented black hole?

The next phrase is “Lit from tree blessed olive.” The word “shajara” used for “tree” also means “to raise.” The word “zaytūnah” means oil as well as olive. So, if we say that “tree blessed olive” refers to the physical tree and the olive then we come to idea that the lamp was lit with the blessed olive oil. However, if we understand the words “tree blessed olive” to indicate “raise blessed oil” then there is no physicality and it can refer to the blessed fuel which was within the Black Hole which raised itself and this become consistent the alternative interpretation.

Who is the father of Tafsir?

The next phrase is “neither of the east nor of the west.” Ibn ‘Abbās, al-Jalayan, Ibn Kathīr and al-Mawdūdī all understand “east” and “west” as coordinates of the physical earth. However, it can also refer to the nothingness of the entire space where are no coordinates or there is no single point. Thus, this can refer to the existence of the Black Hole within the empty space.

The next phrase is “Whose oil glow.” This can refer to the glowing of the olive oil in a lamp or it can refer to the explosion of the Black Hole in the space.

The next phrase is “Even if untouched by fire.” One way of understanding this is that there is lamp that Allah caused to glow without using a matchstick or fire. The alternative interpretation is that the explosion in the Black Hole took place by itself. There was no external agent that led to the explosion.

The next phrase which is very important is “Light upon light.”

Ibn ‘Abbās understands this as  the “light of Muhammad.”

Al-Asrār understands this as “the light of tremendousness and majesty.”

Ibn Kathīr understands this as “faith and deeds of a person,” or “the light of the Qur’ān and the light of faith.”

It seems that different scholars have understood light as per their own understandings. We suggest that “light upon light” could refer to the explosion in the Black Hole where in one uniform level of consciousness divided into higher and lower levels of consciousness and the higher level of consciousness governed the lower level of consciousness.

If we use the alternative meanings then this Ayat can read as “Allah is the Light [inside] the universe. His example is the light [in] a niche within a lamp, the lamp is within nothingness as if it were an explosion ignited [and] raised from the blessed fuel in empty space whose flash self-ignited higher- upon lower consciousness.” This interpretation draws sustenance from modern science.

Electrons and quarks have experience.

Electrons and quarks have experience.

What is the theory of panpsychism?

The modern scientist have come up with the idea of panpsychism. Philip Goff is the main proponent of this idea today. He says that “Each of the most fundamental constituents of the physical world, perhaps electrons and quarks, instantiate unimaginably simple forms of experience.” So all matter has experiences which is same as the Quran saying mountains have the capacity either to prostrate or not to the world.

Sociologist Emile Durkheim says “The society is collective ideas, beliefs, and sentiments that is produced from the fusion of individual consciences. This ‘collective consciousness’ is unique. Just as water is a wholly new entity even though it is a combination of hydrogen and oxygen atoms, so also the collective consciousness is greater than the sum of the individual consciences.”

The statement is saying that when human beings come together in some organisation like a labour union, their thoughts fuse into each other and create a higher level of consciousness. Similarly, we may think that the consciousness of the mountains and trees fused into each other and became a higher level of consciousness which we may understand as Allah.

How did consciousness evolve?

Psychologist Carl G. Jung says “We would laugh at the idea of a plant or an animal inventing itself, yet… the mind has grown to its present state of consciousness as an acorn grows into an oak.” So, the mind evolves just like a seed becomes a plant. We can extrapolate this backwards say that every particle in the Black Hole evolved just as the seed became a plant.

Allah created Matter, Life and Mind.

Allah created Matter, Life and Mind.

What does black hole thinking mean?

We have tried to depict the conventional approach in this picture. The band on the left indicates the Black Hole. There was an explosion in it. Gradually matter, life and mind evolved. This evolution was prompted by Allah or Universal Consciousness which is depicted on the upper band with downward arrows. Allah or Universal Consciousness directed every part of the universe to evolve from matter to life to mind. This direction of Allah or Universal Consciousness to its constituent parts its shown by the small downward arrows on the top.

The consciousness of all the particles of the universe fused and became Universal Consciousness or Allah.

The consciousness of all the particles of the universe fused and became Universal Consciousness or Allah.

Now if we add another sets of arrows from the bottom to the up then this whole approach takes a very different meaning. There is a Black Hole on the left. There was an explosion and matter was created. The fusion of the consciousness of the particles of the matter fused and became Universal Consciousness or Allah as told by Durkheim. This process is shown by the small upward arrows. Once universal consciousness was created, it began to govern its constituents parts as it was shown in the previous picture as well as the downward arrows in this picture.

An objection to this approach is that placing Allah within the Black Hole would limit his unlimited power. We don’t think this is is correct. The Black Hole has unlimited weight. The unlimited weight of the Black Hole and the unlimited power of Allah complement each other. It is more a change in quality rather than a limitation. This does not restrict the unlimitedness of Allah.

What is Allah’s consciousness?

We will now discuss Sura Al-Ikhlas of the Quran which has only four verses which describes the concept of Allah more clearly.

The first verse says Say, “He is Allah, [who is] One.” Now the universal consciousness is One because it encompasses all the particles and there can be nothing beyond “all.”

The second verse is “Allah, the Eternal Refuge, all need Him. On Him all depend.” We understand this Ayat to say that once Universal Consciousness has been created, all particles depend on It. This is like all citizens of a country electing the president and then all of them depending upon the same president whom they have elected. Similarly, all particles of the universe fused and led to the creation of the Universal Consciousness or Allah and then that Universal Consciousness or Allah became the shelter of all particles of the universe.

The third verse is “He neither begets nor is born.” We do not know what was the state of this universe before the Black Hole exploded. This verse is saying that there was something before it. The Black Hole just one event in the long life of this universe. In that case the universe has not been born during the explosion Black Hole but it is merely one step in the continuity of its existence.

What is universe consciousness?

The last verse is “Nor is there to Him any equivalent.” Since the Universal Consciousness encompasses the consciousness of all particles, there can be nothing outside it and there can be nothing equal to it.

Investigating the common area between Quran and science.

Investigating the common area between Quran and science.

In this manner we see that the Quran tells of Allah in a manner that is both consistent with Allah being a power outside and controlling the universe from outside; as well as Allah being the fusion of the consciousness of all particles of the universe and governing the universe from within. The difference is that the latter approach is also consistent with Panpsychism, Emile Durkheim and Carl Jung.

Therefore, there is a need to re-understand the Quran in the light of modern science just as the Quran says “Indeed, the worst of living creatures in the sight of Allah are the deaf and dumb who do not use reason” (Al-Anfāl 8:22).  So let us see if we can find an interpretation of the Quran that is consistent with science. We have published a paper in the Journal Tesofi published by the State Islamic University Surabaya, Indonesia in which we have given detailed references for all the interpretations given above.
